         A good start to the 'A' team international with wins in the Singles for Mitchell Young beating S. McKinley from Ireland by 18-8, the English pair of Dave Newsome and Ben Render beating the Scottish pair by 18-10.
         The English triple of Dave Lamb, Derek Johns and Nigel Reed beat the Scottish triple 14-8 and the English Four of Robert Martin, David Glennerster,Stephen Stanton and Paul Seaman beat the Scottish Four by 22-8.

         The team event then took to the mats with England playing Scotland and running out overall winners 73-29 with wins for skips Simon Willies 23-3, Leigh Hall, standing in for an absent Herbie Bowden, 19-5, Ken Sleat 
          19-12 and Keith Hawkins 12-9.

          The second round of the individuals  produced a single shot loss for Mitchell Young 10-11 to Wales, a second round win for Newsome and Render over Wales by 16-7, a 16-8 win for D. Lamb's triple over the Welsh
           triple and a 22-3 win for Rob Martins Four over the Welsh Four.

           The second round of the team event saw England beating Wales 63-27 with the Simon Willies four winning 24-5, Leigh Hall's four winning 12-4, Ken Sleat's four winning 13-7 and Keith Hawkins's four winning 14-11.

            The final round of the individuals saw Mitchell Young win the title with a convincing 18-9 win over Ian Arthur of Scotland. The Welsh player, Chris McWinne overcoming the Irish player, S. McKinley 13-10 and 
             losing out on shot difference.

             The English pair, triple, and four all lost their last games to the Irish and took the runners up spots.

             The final round had the English team meeting old rivals and eight time champions in the final round. After a hard fought game the Irish ran out winners 49-30 to take their 9th title on the trot. Simon Willies four lost 
             15-5, Leigh Hall's four lost 16-7, Keith Hawkins four lost 13-6 with Ken Sleat's four keeping their 100% record with a 12-5 victory.

             A good and well run Championship ended with the young and inexperienced  English side equitting themselves very well.
